From left to right, Debbie, Dave and Andre with two of Dave and Debbie's children. After many years of visiting Lanzarote, Dave and Debbie Redford finally took the plunge and moved out to the island they had grown to love so much. They were drawn by the people, the lifestyle it could offer for their 3 children that have moved out with them and the chance for them to enjoy more family time together. Dave, a Savoy trained chef, has been a professional chef for more years than he likes to admit to! Dave loves Canarian and Spanish food and feels passionate about providing a place where people can come and try local style tapas without worrying about not speaking Spanish. "Choosing to cook tapas is also another way to integrate with the community here. There are already enough Pubs and British Bars here, so we wanted to offer something a little bit different", says Debbie. "It also means we can support the local economy as we source as much as possible locally, including some of the fine Lanzarote wines!" |

However, it's not just great tapas and daily fresh fish specials that are available. You can finish off with some good old fashioned homemade desserts like sticky toffee pudding, chocolate fudge sundae or lemon tart, to name just a few. Dave and Debbie love it in Costa Teguise so much that they even convinced fellow chef Andre to move out as well. Andre has worked alongside Dave for the past 6 years and was delighted to be invited to help to establish Tapas.Com. Dave, Debbie and Andre have since been joined by Janine, who is the newest member of the team. Janine is from Leeds in the UK and has always wanted to live and work in Lanzarote since her childhood holidays. "It's a dream come true", says Janine. "I've always wanted to live and work out here, and it's great to meet and work with such friendly people every day!" Tapas.Com has got off to a great start with many local residents coming in to eat, and even the workers from nearby businesses. Holidaymakers love it too, and keep coming back for more! It's somewhere to eat and drink in a relaxing atmosphere and actually sit and have a chat as there are no distractions such as TV's, pool tables, darts etc. You can catch up with family and friends with internet and free secure WiFi available. Or you can just have a lounge on one of the sofas and read a newspaper or magazine while watching life go by on the beach and promenade in front of the bar. |
